Is there hope for humanity?

So I started this blog because of one book... one book that was so interesting I felt it had to be discussed. Or at least it inspired me to learn more about the topic. So this will be my forum to collect my thoughts and, hopefully, solicit ideas and additional information from others.

Demonic Males: Apes and the Origins of Human Violence attempts to understand the apparent inability of humanity to coexist peacefully by studying our closest living ancestors apes. What amazed me was learning that murder, rape, and abuse are all behaviors present in the other species of apes, not just humans. The authors break down the discussion into several sections, which over the next week or two I will try to comment on.
